Well, good morning Sunshine! Do you know what day it is today? It's your birthday! You are a whole 1 year old today. Where did that time go? How did you get so big? I think I just blinked and this all happened and somehow I missed it. Well special boy, have a great day today. You deserve it!
A whole 1 year old now. I just can't believe it. We started our day slow. Just moseying around and hanging out. Then the rush started and we were frantically cleaning house to get ready for 'The Nathan Bowl"! Yes, The Nathan Bowl. What a lucky little guy. Super Bowl landed on his birthday this year. I'm guessing that's a pretty special thing for a little guy. We decided to have some friends over for organized chaos, to celebrate Mr.Mister's birthday, and the men could enjoy the Super Bowl action at the same time. So Dad headed out to Costco for munchies and Mom was supposed to clean the house. We did birthday pictures instead....
I mean, you gotta have pictures to celebrate and document the occasion, right?
Look how cute Mr.Mister is in his duds, pushing a favorite train toy around (actually it keeps him in one spot while I try to take the picture).
Yep, he's still into toys with wheels. It's an added bonus if it has buttons and secret buttons that make different noises. A little music to add to playtime....that's getting it right!
And of course, no photo session would be complete if Lil'Miss didn't come in and have HER picture taken as well. Take note that she is all dolled up as well. Ready for the perpetual party. She's allowed to dress herself these days.
I think I really see the love in this picture (LOVE IT!)
And the big news? About a week before his birthday....Mr.Mister took his first steps. Yes, we can officially say that he is now walking. Now remember that he is so efficient at crawling that he really has no need to walk. So currently he takes about 5 steps, then drops down into a crawl and gets moving. But put a walking toy in front of him (chair, wheelie toy, chair.... pink shopping cart....) and he gets motoring. He can zip that wheelie toy around the kitchen like nobody's business, laughing and giggling and squealing all the way! It's comical.
So, on to the party. We went with a mid afternoon start on the shindig...that way all little kids could enjoy the chaos to it's fullest before being pulled away by parents to head home to bed (booooooo.) We did finger sandwhiches, veggie platter, juice boxes...and of course CAKE!
(Yeah, this is the best picture I have...doesn't really say much for the photographer!!!)
We went with a football/zoo themed cake to cover both occasions. I think all Mr.Mister could think of was how he could get his hands on some cake.....I wonder where he gets his sweet tooth from?
Whoa buddy! Why bother eating the cake in small pieces? Just grab the whole thing and shove it in your mouth all at once. Maybe then you can fool your mom into giving you another piece.
Just for the record....I did give him another piece....
And then afterwards we opened presents. All our wonderful friends thought of Mr.Mister and blessed him with some awsome new toys with wheels and sound buttons. What more could a little man ask for?????
He didn't really have any interest in opening his presents. But once they came out of their wrappings, they became much more interesting.
It was a great day. And once again I ask the question....
Where has the time gone?
