Is there a doctor in the house!?!?

Yes, we're back to playing doctor in this household. I blame it on Auntie B...who bought Lil' Miss a doctors kit for Christmas last year. That doctor's kit has really been put to some good use.
She pulled it out, opened it and set up her instruments; laying them out in order inside her doctor's case. Then she got out a blanket (to cover her patient up with...too bad it's a doll blanket and coverage is really minimal) and a hankie (an old dish cloth I gave her for some practical purpose, but it automatically got repurposed for some other venture) and her Elmo flashing wand (for taking temperatures with and checking inside your mouth). She trucked over to the Big Guy..."Daddy, you're sick. You're the patient" Daddy didn't care. He was content to sit on the couch and play along...mainly because he could still watch the sports highlights and be sick at the same time. No movement from the couch was necessary. I got to be the nurse...(Lil' Miss specifically gave me that title) and Mr.Mister...well I said he was my nurse's assistant. But he really just wanted to race his police car around or steal the Dr's instruments from their carefully structured tray. That didn't go over all that well with the Dr. So she pretty much ignored him. Anyhow, here's a bit of how the conversation went.
(Dr.) Daddy, do you like this? (She holds up otoscope - ear/eye checker)
(Big Guy) Sure.
(Dr.) Ok! (goes over and checks his mouth)
(Dr.) Daddy, do you like this? (holds up the hammer)
(Big Guy...watching sports highlights) Sure.
(Dr.) Ok! (goes over and lightly hammers his knee, then hammers the other knee.)
(Dr.) Daddy, do you like the cutter thingy? (holds up the scalpel)
(Big Guy) No! I don't want to be cut!
(Nurse - me) Dr, give him some medicine first. Then the cutter won't hurt so much
(Dr.) Ok! (takes the syringe and gives him a shot to the knee, then pretends to cut)
(Dr.) Daddy! Do you have to 'bless you'?
(Big Guy - blank look on his face) What????
(Dr.) Daddy do you have to 'bless you'? (Big Guy looks at me. I smirk)
(Nurse) She's asking you if you have to sneeze.
(Big Guy starts to make sneezing sounds. Dr races over with the dishrag hankie, shoves it in his face and makes him sneeze in it...a couple of times. Dr.'s appt turns into a 'bless you' appointment)
Yeah, this went on for about 30 minutes. Then Kona got a visit from the Dr., Mr.Mister got a visit, but he kind of just crawled away, throwing toys out of his path as he went (he's turned into a hucker). Polly got a visit from the Dr., and so did I.
And why do I get the feeling that when he's old enough Mr. Mister is going to get in on a little doctor action as well..
Except that I see he's made himself the patient AND the doctor.
Say AAAHHHHHH!

YES! Familiar toy comes full circle! Maybe by the time she's 8 or 9, there will be an updated Jem series!

I seem to recall having to be a doctor AND a patient many (many, many, many, many, MANY) times during our summer visit. Maybe she won't be a pro golfer after all, but a highly successful brain surgeon?

(By the way, did you know they start girls hockey leagues at age 3?! I saw a sign advertising it at the Winter Club the other day. I had no idea you could get hockey equipment to fit a three year old girl!)

OFF TOPIC! Anyway: so cute. Maybe you'll have to hobble L'il Man's hand to his shoulder to prevent UFOs in your living room!

(I'm really enjoying this dedicated blogging thing! I have nothing but respect for your wherewithal to get 'er done!)

I'm sure the doctor will look after the aunties when they come to visit (maybe taking rotations...).
